Editing Issues
With just over 30 minutes of raw footage, getting to the two minute marker shouldn't be a problem; however, a lot of editing needed to be done. A lot of the footage had background noise, extra content and other factors that will require cutting and redoing. Any portions where audio from me or other external influences was audible, muting and voice overs had to be done or discarded entirely. Over the weekend, I spent my time picking out the footage I wanted to use. This meant shortening any recoding I had down to the necessary scenes. This amounted to around 8 minutes of usable footage. The large amount of content I was editing caused some issues with lagging. The load time was very slow as the software got overwhelmed and resulted in several delays as I had to wait for everything to process. This was very frustrating and made everything very complicated. My intentions were to get through the 30 minutes of raw recordings I had and pick out audio and scenes I wanted to keep. This part already took an hour but not even half way into the 30 minutes of footage, the lag started. The screen started blackout and I had to restart my computer. The video wouldn't load and audio didn't respond. In the end, I had to start a new video, and re-edit each clip again one at a time. The process was very stressful and do to the fact that I had to start over, I didn't even get close to finishing. This week I will gradually continue working on the editing. For now, I will be continuing getting the footage in the order I want and with the scenes I want. Initially, I will also not be adding additional audio, only cutting out unusable audio and keeping the audio that is acceptable. Because of COVID and other factors, I cannot match the storyboard as closely as I would have liked. This means that the editing will also not be as easy as I hoped. I plan to stick as closely as possible to my inital plan and my inital theme.
