CPR: Commercial Project [Humira]
The product featured in my commercial is Humira, an immunosuppressant used to treat a variety of ailment, including Crohn's disease. Medically relevant topics are a kind of taboo among some people. Some individuals can feel uncomfortable with topics involving disorders, disabilities, diseases, infections and other various conditions. Some even feel uncomfortable talking about treatment. In this sense, a commercial for a medical treatment, even one that can help a lot of people, can be frowned upon. In this regard, challenging convention and comfort zones is a big part of getting information about Humira out to the public.
Both the diseases this drug treats and the medication itself is not limited to any singular group or groups. Humira crosses racial, gender, and age lines and was made to save lives. The only thing that would prevent you from using Humira to treat a relevant disease would be preexisting conditions like infections or pregnancy. It can also help raise awareness about relevant diseases and infections this product can help as well as increase people understanding of the medicines and alternative treatments.
Humira is used to help resolve symptoms and potentially cause remission in patients with relevant ailments. This product has a practical use and is used to improve the lives of those suffering from diseases like Crohn's disease. Television commercials, radio broadcasts, and online advertisements are some of the many ways we might see Humira media distributed in real life.
This project forced me to do things outside of my skill set. While I have done similar projects to this in the past, it has always been in a group environment. This meant that when tasks were assigned I choose to do what I enjoyed and what I was best at. In this project, I had no such luxury. Every step of the process had to be done by a single individual so parts of the project I would typically avoid ended up being the biggest challenged with this commercial.
Every step in this project heavily involved technology. As a filmed TV commercial, every single scene was recorded on a camera. Every time I pause the recording, every time the video saves on the cloud, every time I re-shoot and redo scenes, I used technology. Even after recording is done, technology is very prevalent. I uploaded the videos on to some editing software, edited with that program using filters, cutting out and adding footage and piecing everything together. Then I exported the video to my computer. Even the submission process used technology. Once i exported my video, I had to embedded it into my blog, another example of computer software in this project. I had some problems with this step do to incompatible programing so I spent quite a bit of time resolving this issue. Then I have to write my blog and publish it so that it can be viewed by others. All on my computer using technology.
