Introduction to the Music Video Project
For this project, I plan on working by myself. I chose to do this so that I would not have to correspond and plan with other individuals. I tend to travel around this time of year and to prevent problems with that, working by myself makes sense. I also have a clear understanding of my own abilities so I know what areas to spend more time on and what areas I can do easily. Another reason is that I don't want to have to worry about teammates following through on their parts. Sometimes even the nicest people can be bad teammates in a group project. Due to COVID-19 and the quarantine which prevents us from going to school, I don't know any of my classmates very well and so to solve the problem of bad groupmates, I plan on avoiding them altogether. It also allows me to work at my own pace without worrying about who has to do what.
I had a hard time choosing a song so I decided to ask some of my friends to choose from a list of seven of my favorite songs. I made sure that they knew it was for a project, but none of the friends I asked attend the same school as me or know anything else about the project so their opinion was totally based on the song they thought was best. The songs on my list were: Play With Fire by Sam Tinnesz, Paper Planes by M.I.A., Do I Want To Know? by Arctic Monkeys, Feeling Good by Muse, She's Long Gone by the Black Keys, Seven Devils by Florence + The Machine, and House of the Rising Sun by The Animals. I love all of the songs on the list because they are inspiring songs that make you feel powerful when you listen to them. They are the kinds of songs that play in the background of an epic fight scene or a powerful moment in a film. This is something that motivates me to push myself so I often listen to this music while working out. In the end, after some discussion and a clear winner, I will be using the song Paper Planes by M.I.A. for this music video. I haven't decided how I am going to shoot the video, but I hope I can align it to the feeling I get well listening to it. The image I see when listening to this song is a friend group hanging out going on a wild road trip across the country. I picture gas station stops, bad singing, and loud music with the windows down. Some bad choices but mostly just harmless fun and an awesome adventure before going back to the real world. Hopefully, this project goes as I imagine it in my head, but I will definitely have to account for possible travel which would require me to change how I reflect the mood in this video. I'm also not sure what minute of the music video I will be playing but it will most likely be the beginning minute or end minute of the song.
