Music Video Blog: Hey, Soul Sister

This project was the second major project I've done for this class, and so far, the one I've enjoyed most. I enjoyed the volatility of my situation and the freedom of content. The melody of the song brings me a lot of joy and when I combined it with my own experiences it feels like a flashback of a happy memory. I would actually consider doing this for more similar circumstances in the future. Vacations in a post COVID world would be an ideal example. I would like to fit in more scenes though so I would probably choose to use whole the song of whatever song I choose. I think that for this particular line of editing and filming I would choose songs similar to the one I choose for this project. This would include Hey There Delilah By Plain White T's, Riptide by Vance Joy, Hey Brother by Avicii and Fireflies by Owl City. I'm very happy with the choices I've made, including choosing not to join or form a group. This was a smart decision for my situation. Traveling made collaboration a difficult feat. Timing would have been difficult and schedule during a vacation is always unpredictable. Besides, doing this project alone means each step was mine to do. I didn't have to worry about other people being on time or coming through, everyone liking the content, and I got a chance to improve skills I don't use often. In my next video, I'd try to include more character diversity. Most of the scenes in my video are of my dogs, which isn't bad but it doesn't depict the most accurate experience of events. In future videos, even ones not for this class, I'd try to film more human interactions. I'd also like to include myself in some videos. I'd expect that any videos like this in the future will be shot in perspective, but including myself would add a challenge in the filming part. For a first video, I think it turned out well and I think it matches the content of my video matches the song well.
